A l o n g time ago, my grandparents, Jens and Dorthea Holl emigrated from Denmark to NewZealand and settled in Tauranga. One of my uncles, Fred, was born there. They later emigrated to North America, settling in Montana state, where my father was born. They left NZ, I believe, in 1906. I'm trying to plan a trip to NZ, Tauranga particularly, in Feb 2009. I have no family there that I know of, although there may be some distant relatives last name Lund.
Thanks much, and Best Regards, Mike

I am on the committee of the Danish Australian Cultural Society in Melbourne.

Among my duties is maintaining our website.

It would be great if we could arrange some trans-Tasman co-operation between our two groups.

At least, including links on our respective websites.

I will put a short entry about your group on our website

in any case (with your permission).

Cheers

Content:  I am trying to track Frede Alexander Mathiesen, gartner, born in Ringsted, Denmark the 17th May 1900, baptismed 1st July 1900, son of Edvard Julius Mathiesen og spouse Anna Kristine, nee Madsen.

Frede emigrated from Denmark to Wellington, NZ, 27 years old. He sailed from Southampton the 5th July 1927on board the RMS Ruahine and arrived to New Zealand in august 1927.

In 1928, I know for sure, he worked on Ruanui Station, Mataroa, a tiny farming area near Taihape in the North Island.

Have any of you informations about above man? If he married and raised a family? Or if he later emigrated from New Zealand? I am trying hard
to find his descendants, because I am writing a book, where he play a main role. Any information will be aprisiated.

Regards
Karsten Jacobsen

Content:  What a wonderful site. My Bestefar came to the United States in the 1870's. When his first wife was dying, she asked him to write her sister to come raise their children. The sister would not come, but her 19-year old daughter, my Bestemor, came and raised his seven then had 14 more of her own.
I am writing a book about them and I need someone to communicate with me who could help me understand what her life might have been like as a girl--how long she would have gone to school etc.
I do not speak Danish so I need someone who can answer in English. It is a wonderful story and I want to tell it well. I have just published a book about my life, This Precious Love, which includes some stories about Bestemor and many about my Mom, Dagmar. I would love to just be in touch with anyone from Denmark. I have never been able to go there but would love to one day. Thank you so much for any help you can be.

If there is an English name of a game, then I could "Google" it. We are having a children's christmas party, with a Scandinavian them, and are having a bit of difficulty finding out about possible party games for the children. We hope to organize a game or two for groups of approx. 24 children, and approx. 48 children. Any suggestions? Much appreciated!
