Very much in the hearts of many of our members, Valhalla is the Danish Club's farm property at Leigh, north of Auckland.
Visitors to Valhalla will follow State Highway 1 north until they reach Warkworth and from there head out to the east coast via Matakana to Leigh. A short drive around Leigh Harbour takes one off the sealed roads, past farms and on a clear day the sea views on the way will allow you to see as far as Great Barrier Island. Finally at the top of a steep driveway and to the right is the distinctive front gate of Valhalla.
18 acres of land provide spectacular sea views and room to move for those who wish to simply get away from the hectic pace of Auckland. There is plenty of open grass area close to the house for the kids to play and two secluded beaches ten minute's walk away over the farm. Further afield are a number of attractions aimed at the growing tourist market in the area, from the Glass Bottom Boat to a reptile park.
The house itself has 7 bedrooms ranging from 2 beds to 6, with room for additional stretchers and can accommodate 24 people comfortably. Everything else is communal, which lends itself well to providing a companionable atmosphere so common to Danish culture. Members can book individual rooms or the whole house can be booked for a group function.
