There are two main property assets that the Auckland Danish Society maintains for the benefit of its members. Danish House can be booked for things like social events and fund raising dinners, while Valhalla is a ready venue for weekend holidays.


Danish House


This facility is the main club rooms and function hall of the Danish Society.

The main feature is a spacious hall capable of seating 100 for dinner and up to 200 for meetings. This room boasts a sprung dance floor, adjoining bar and kitchen facilities, which combined can accommodate a wide variety of club activities.

A smaller function room/library area also has bar/kitchen access and houses a collection of Danish books and videos.

Several smaller rooms upstairs provide facility for small-group activities away from the main function rooms.


Danish House is located next to Mount Smart, close to State Highway 1, at 6 Rockridge Avenue in Penrose making it accessible to members living throughout Auckland.



 Valhalla


Valhalla is the Danish Society’s Coastal Retreat at Leigh; one hour drive from Auckland.


The house is set on 18 acres of land, which provide spectacular sea views and room to move for those who simply wish to get away. The land has been developed into a park-like environment with paths winding all over the property. There are plenty of open spaces for recreation as well as a playground for the children and decks for the adults to relax on. With two secluded beaches on either side of the property to provide your swimming, fishing, boating and diving activities all your holiday needs are met.


Valhalla is not just a summerhouse. The house features a large fireplace in the lounge that provides warmth for those cold winter months not to mention hyggelig.


The house has 7 bedrooms ranging from 2 beds to 5 with room for additional stretchers if needed. It comfortably sleeps 27 people. There are 3 bathrooms and 1 ensuite. The ensuite and 1 other bathroom are wheelchair friendly. The kitchen is modern with two stoves and two microwaves.


The house lends itself well to providing companionable atmosphere so common to Danish culture.

The property is perfect for special functions such as weddings. There are various areas on the property that are ideal for a wedding ceremony, with lots of room for the Marquee closer to the house.
