The Danish Society is a social club founded by Danish immigrants to New Zealand. Originally the club provided a stage for forming Danish friendships and family in New Zealand as a welcome replacement for friendships left behind in Denmark. As the years wear on, the membership of the club gradually changes. Now the children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren of the founding members as well as new immigrants have given the Danish Society an expanded purpose which also involves stimulating an interest in the history and culture of Denmark.
